(২) (উত্তম পুরুষ- I, we সহযোগে ইচ্ছা, সম্মতি, প্রস্তাব বা প্রতিশ্রুতি প্রকাশ করে): All right, I’ll come. We’ll look after these children. (অতীতকালে ভবিষ্যৎ নির্দেশকল্পে will - এর স্থলে would বসবে): I said I would do it. We said we would never do it again. (৩) (প্রশ্নে, বিনীত অনুরোধে এবং অনেক ক্ষেত্রে please এর সমার্থক হিসেবে মধ্যম পুরুষের সঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়): ‘Will you (please) come in’, ভিতরে আসুন না? Would you (please) pass the salt? (৪) (উপরোধ বা অনিবার্যতা নির্দেশকল্পে এবং সর্বদা শ্বাসাঘাত বা stress সহযোগে -কখনো’ ‘ll বা ’d নয়- হাঁ-সূচক বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত): She will have own way, সে তার পথে/তার মতো চলবেই; boys will be boys, ছেলেরা তো ছেলেই হবে, অর্থাৎ ছেলেমি করবেই; Accidents will happen, দুর্ঘটনা তো ঘটবেই। (৫) (অস্বীকৃতি বা প্রত্যাখ্যান বোঝাতে নঞর্থক ব্যবহার) : He won’t help me, সাহায্য করবে না (বলে জানিয়েছে); This window won’t open, এই জানালাটা খুলবে না, অর্থাৎ খোলা যায় না। (৬) (কোনোকিছু মাঝে মাঝে ঘটে থাকে, কেউ কোনোকিছু করে থাকে, কোনোকিছু স্বাভাবিক বা প্রত্যাশিত- এ রকম বোঝাতে will ব্যবহৃত হয়): He’ll sit there hour after hour looking at the traffic go by. Sometimes the boys will play a trick on their teachers. Occasionally there will be misunderstanding between friends. (৭) (সম্ভাব্যতা নির্দেশকল্পে ব্যবহৃত); This’ll be the place he described to us. He would be about 50 when he died. You said you wanted someone to help you with the typing. Will I do? আমাকে দিয়ে কি কাজটা হবে? (৮) (শর্তাধীন উক্তি ও প্রশ্ন গঠনের জন্য মধ্যম ও নামপুরুষের সঙ্গে would ব্যবহৃত হয়) : He’d be killed if the car swerved by an inch. He’d have been killed if the car had swerved by an inch. would rather, দ্রষ্টব্য rather (১). (৯) (বক্তার ইচ্ছা বা অভিপ্রায় জ্ঞাপক শর্তাধীন উক্তি গঠনের জন্য উত্তম পুরুষের সঙ্গে would ব্যবহৃত হয়): We would have come if it hadn’t rained.

Come whenever You will, যখন ইচ্ছা এসো। (will 2 ও will 3 এর সম্পর্ক লক্ষণীয়) would-be (attributively adjective) আকাঙ্ক্ষা বা অভিপ্রায় নির্দেশকল্পে ব্যবহৃত: would-be poets, কবি হতে চায় এমন সব ব্যক্তি; হবু-কবিকুল।

(২) ইচ্ছাশক্তি প্রয়োগ করা: Willing and wishing are not the same thing. (৩) অমোঘ ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ বা প্রতিফলিত করা: God has willed it so, আল্লাহর এই রকমই অভিপ্রায়। (৪) ইচ্ছাশক্তি প্রয়োগ করে প্রভাবিত বা নিয়ন্ত্রিত বা বাধ্য করা: I willed myself into keeping awake. (৫) will something to somebody; will somebody something ইষ্টিপত্র বা উইল করে কাউকে কোনোকিছু (ধনসম্পত্তি প্রভৃতি) দান করা বা দিয়ে যাওয়া; He willed all his money to charities. My father has willed me the only house he owned in the city.

(২) [uncountable noun, countable noun] (কেবল singular) (অপিচ will-power) আত্মনিয়ন্ত্রণের ক্ষমতা: He has no will of his own, অন্যের দ্বারা সহজে প্রভাবিত হয়; He has a strong/weak will, দৃঢ়চেতা/দুর্বলচিত্ত মানুষ। এর থেকে strong-willed ও weak- willed (adjective(s) (যৌগশব্দ) দৃঢ়চেতা ও দুর্বলচিত্ত। (৩) [uncountable noun, countable noun] (কেবল singular) সংকর; আকাঙ্ক্ষা বা অভিপ্রায়: will to live, বেঁচে থাকার সংকল্প; will to please, (অন্যকে) খুশি করার আকাঙ্ক্ষা। Where there’s a will there’s a way (প্রবাদ) ইচ্ছা থাকলে উপায় হয়। take the will for the deed (কারো) উপকার করার সাধ্য নেই অথচ উপকার করার বাসনা আছে, এ কথা অনুধাবন করে (তার প্রতি) কৃতজ্ঞ বোধ করা। of one’ own free will স্বেচ্ছায়: I did it of my own free will, স্বেচ্ছায় এ কাজ করেছি। at will ইচ্ছে মতো; খুশিমতো: You may come and go at will, তোমার ইচ্ছে মতো আসতে যেতে পার। tenant at will (আইন সম্বন্ধীয়) যে প্রজা বা ভাড়াটেকে (মালিকের) প্রয়োজনমতো (জমি বা বাড়ির দখল) ছাড়তে হতে পারে। (৪) a will শক্তি; আগ্রহ; উদ্দীপনা: work with a will. (৫) [uncountable noun] (possessive সহযোগে) যা অভিপ্রেত বা স্থিরীকৃত: God’s will be done, আল্লাহর ইচ্ছা পূর্ণ হোক। (৬) good/ill will সদিচ্ছা/অসদিচ্ছা: There are still men who feel. no ill will towards anybody. ‘Peace on earth and good will towards men’. (৭) [countable noun] (অপিচ last will and testament): testament. willfull [উইল্ফল্‌] (adjective) willful এর America(n) বানান।
