(চ) ছোট ছোট টুকরায় বিভক্ত করা; টুকরা টুকরা করে কাটা: He has cut the bread. (ছ) দুই ভাগে ভাগ করা; (ফিতা) কাটা: The President will cut the tape and open the show. (জ) পথ, সুড়ঙ্গ ইত্যাদি কাটা: They will cut a tunnel through the hill. (২) (ক) (ভালো/খারাপ কাটে এমন যন্ত্র প্রসঙ্গে): The knife cuts well. (খ) (কোনো দ্রব্য কাটছাঁটের যোগ্যতা প্রসঙ্গে): The tailor could not cut the cloth well. (৩) (কথ্য) কেটে পড়া; কাটা মারা: to cut a class. (৪) (রেখা প্রসঙ্গে) পরস্পর ছেদ করা: the line AB cuts CD. (১০) (adverbial particle এবং pres-সহ ব্যবহার). cut across something (ক) কোনাকুনি পথ ধরা। (খ) ভিন্নমত পোষণ করা। cut at somebody/something কঠোর আঘাত হানার উদ্দেশ্যে তলোয়ার, চাবুক ইত্যাদি তাক করা। cut something away কেটে ফেলে দেওয়া; কেটে অংশবিশেষ বাদ দেওয়া: The doctor cut away the infectious finger. cut something back (ক) (ঝোপঝাড়) ছেঁটে দেওয়া। (খ) কমানো; হ্রাস করা: cut back production. cutback (noun) (উৎপাদন)হ্রাস। cut something/somebody down (ক) কেটে নামানো: to cut down a tree. (খ) মেরে ফেলা অথবা তলোয়ার/ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে আহত করা। (গ) (রোগের ফলে) স্বাস্থ্য নষ্ট হওয়া। (ঘ) পরিমাণ কমানো; ব্যয় সংকোচন করা: cut down expenses. (ঙ) মূল্যহ্রাসে রাজি করানো: They have managed to cut him down by 50. (খ) কেটে কেটে বের করা: Cut out a path through the jungle. (গ) (কাপড়) কেটে আকৃতি দেওয়া: Cut out a dress. (ঘ) (কথ্য) বাদ দেওয়া; বাতিল করা: He has cut out the details.
